  • Sunair 8220WB 1 kW HF Transmitter, Wideband The Sunair 8220WB 1-kW System operates continuously (100% duty) and consists of the Sunair RT-8500WB Software-Defined Wideband Next Generation HF SSB/ISB Transceiver, the F-9810 Post-selector, and the LPA-8220 1-kW Power Amplifier, all mounted on a pre-wired custom cabinet for ease of installation and maintenance. The RT-8500WB transceiver uses software-defined digital signal processing (DSP) technology, which supports the latest developments in high-speed waveform processing. This technology enhances the functionality of the CPU as well as the Synthesizer, Digital Audio, and Digital IF stages. It operates in USB, LSB, ISB, AMe, FMn, CW, and 48-kHz WBHF.   • Sunair RCU-8310 Remote Control Unit The Sunair RCU-8310 is a full-function remote control unit, now capable of operating up to eight (8) transceivers, transmitters, or receivers from the 8400 series. The next-generation RCU is equipped with a larger 7-inch TFT display, which is now touchscreen, along with keyboard entry. Its front panel is physically identical to the front panel of the unit it controls. This ensures operational simplicity. The RCU offers a full set of operating modes, including AME, NB-FM, USB, CW, Data, as well as remote control of Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) functions when the RT-8400 is equipped with the internal ALE option. These capabilities match the operating modes available on the radio itself. The RCU-8310 also allows remote operation of Sunair peripheral equipment including the F-9810 PreSelector/Post-Selector, the LPA-8210/8220 Power Amplifiers, and the CU-9125/CU-9150 Antenna Couplers.   • Sunair F-9810B Pre/Postselector The Sunair F-9810B Pre/Postselector permits operating collocated (co-site) Sunair radios, whether the RT-8500WB Transceiver or any radio of the 9000E Series, on frequencies with as small as a 10% separation. The Sunair F-9810B is controlled by the Sunair radio it serves. As a pre-selector, the F-9810B provides an additional front-end selectivity stage, thus reducing the receiver desensitization and overload that normally occurs in the presence of strong adjacent RF transmissions. As a post-selector, the F-9810B rejects spurious outputs and broadband noise in the transmit signal before it reaches the Sunair LPA power amplifiers, thereby limiting interference to collocated receivers. In transmit mode, the F-9810B operates as postselector on the radio’s low output power path. Because of this, the F-9810B is fully operational as postselector with an RT- 8500WB regardless of whether the transceiver is driving the LPA-8200 at 100 mW or operating at its full 125-W output. A separate transmit antenna port provides the flexibility of using either a single antenna for transmission and reception or separate transmit and receive antennas. In addition, the keyline over coax feature prevents damage to the unit from high power RF transmission by reducing the control time delay of transmit-to-receive switching. The F-9810B offers a selectivity of 35 dB minimum (±10%), 40 dB typical, from the nominal tune frequency, with an ultimate rejection of 70 dB minimum. The unit tunes in 10 Hz increments, and tuning time is 10 ms maximum, making the F-9810B suitable for ALE applications. Furthermore, the F-9810B offers two levels of gain.
