Novaris network protection products are specifically designed for the protection of twisted pair Ethernet systems with a combination of rugged and fine grain protection elements.

The RJ45-CAT6 and RJ45-PoE protection products employ a 10kA Gas Discharge Tube per signal pair to dissipate the energy associated with large common mode surges.The silicon based secondary protection element used on each signal pair provides exceptional protection for your equipment whilst allowing network speeds up to Gigabit/1000BaseT.

RJ45-1CB – C-Bus™ Protection Device

Novaris C-Bus™ RJ45 surge protection products are specifically designed for the protection of C-Bus™ RJ45 communications wiring.

The Novaris C-Bus™ RJ45 network protector is designed with primary protection elements of the C-Bus™ network pairs and secondary protection elements to provide protection for the Remote Override pairs.

The Novaris C-Bus™ protector contains integrated 230V isolation to prevent equipment damage during power to earth faults but also provide efficient earth bonding during a surge event.

RJ45 EC90 for Shielded Twisted Pair Applications

Novaris has introduced an EC90 version of the RJ45 network protection products.

This particular unit is designed for installation in the field end of a Shielded Twisted Pair cable run to protect the external equipment.

The standard variants of the RJ45 protectors connect the shield directly to earth through the DIN rail on the product for a low impedance connection to earth. To prevent current flow onto the shield of the cable there can only be one connection to earth. For this reason the field protection device has to be isolated from the local earth.

The RJ45 EC90 products achieve this using a non conductive DIN rail mount and a Gas Discharge tube between the product and the earth connection provided through the flying lead. During normal operation the unit remains isolated, but during a surge this GDT fires for the duration of the overvoltage and allows the current to pass to earth.

The EC90 version are available for both our single device gigabit protectors in the Cat6 and PoE variants.

  • PoE Protection: Devices compatible with PoE, PoE+, and High Power PoE (up to 160W), supporting currents up to 1A per signal pair.
  • Isolating Variants (-EC90): Specialized models like the RJ45-1CAT6-EC90 provide earth isolation at remote field ends to prevent ground current loops on shielded (STP) cabling.
  • C-Bus Protection: The RJ45-1CB is specifically engineered for C-Bus network wiring, incorporating 230V isolation for power-to-earth faults.
