RM5 RUGGED HIGH-SPEED MODEM – 3 kHz
The RM5 Rugged High-Speed Modem is a MIL-STD-188-110A/B HF data modem, engineered with a rugged, field-hardened enclosure for use in the most demanding environments. Designed for disaster relief agencies, the RM5 provides standardised interoperability in harsh and unpredictable conditions. It is also an ideal choice for military and paramilitary organisations, ensuring robust performance when it matters most.
The RM5 supports various HF modem standards, including MIL-STD-188-110A and MIL-STD-188-110B, STANAG 4539, STANAG 4285, STANAG 4529 and STANAG 4415. It also offers optional second-generation automatic link establishment (2G ALE) according to MIL-STD-188-141B.
The RM5 can accommodate both narrowband data modems with a fixed 3 kHz bandwidth and wideband VHF data modems with bandwidths up to 24 kHz. It typically interfaces with rugged PCs or laptops via an Ethernet port, and the optional RC50 Email Software provides STANAG 5066-compliant ARQ email service.

The combination of NATO BRE2TA (BRASS Enhancement 2 Technical Architecture), MELPe NATO Voice, and STANAG 4538 achieves tactical HF interoperability. Dynamic networked IP data communication in multi-node, multi-hop V/UHF Line-of-Sight (LOS) and HF Extended Line-of-Sight (ELOS) radio circuit networks is emerging with STANAG 4691 (MARLIN).
In addition, we provide tactical products and solutions that allow amphibious forces and partner forces to achieve interoperability with shore stations using equipment already fielded.
